Introduction
Set up in 2004 the Regional Training Scheme was designed to increase controlling at all airfields across the division. Members had been restricted to one main field and a selected number of smaller ones. This was restrictive to progression, particularly if mentors were not available or engaged with other students. The RTS proposal opened up every field within specified regions across the country. These were broken down into the 9 regions that can be seen in the panel on the left of this page.
The original RTS proposal document can be found in the downloads area. Since the introduction of the scheme it has progressed very well and many of the regions have built up a team environment accompanied by "specialist" websites specific to their region. Links to any specialist RTS sites will be found on the home page of each region.
The whole RTS system, no matter which region you become a member of, is fully supported by our brand new "RTS System". This is an automated system that handles all mentoring requests, controller bookings, written examinations and practical examination requests to list only a few of its functions.
Detailed information on all of the major fields and many of the smaller fields can be found within each regions section. Each RTS region and airfield within an RTS that is detailed on this site is managed by the relevant RTSM. (Regional Training Scheme Manager). If there are any errors or areas where you feel the content needs updating then please bring it to the attention of the RTSM for that particular region. Their email address can be found on the "home page" for each region.
