Essex RTSM

Hello and welcome to the Essex RTS. My name is Gunnar Lindahl and I am the RTS Manager.  I oversee the controlling and mentoring that goes on within Essex, and work to make the steps to becoming a controller as smooth as possible.

On all these pages, you will find vast amounts of information for all the airfields located within the Essex RTS. As well as our two major fields – London Stansted and London Luton, Essex also hosts a number of regional fields including Cambridge, Norwich and Southend. These airfields offer a wide variety of opportunities to controllers and pilots alike, and all have their unique characteristics. Upon joining the RTS, you will take mentoring sessions as an Observer which will lead you to your next rating: an Aerodrome Controller. This is the time when you may log onto the VATSIM network and control solo. All the information you need is located on these pages, as well as in the “Resources” section.

Essex RTS also plays host to a number of smaller fields: Duxford, North Weald and Clacton to name a few. These are not regularly manned but they are available to the keen controller who may wish to try something different.
